My Approach:

I specialize in child and adolescent mental health issues. I have a breadth of experience across various settings, mental health problems, and diverse populations that has taught me the importance of family systems and culturally responsive care.  I have a passion for helping individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, particularly those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.

I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and families struggling with mood (e.g., depression & anxiety) and trauma-related disorders (e.g., PTSD, complex trauma) that contribute to low self-esteem, relationship issues, isolation, suicidal thoughts & behaviors, negative body image, and academic & vocational difficulties. Together, we will come to understand what has contributed to the difficulties you and your family are having, and I will help you develop more adaptive ways to regulate your emotions and behavior to create the life that you desire. I often draw upon mindfulness and art or other creative forms of expression.

My approach focuses on cultivating a strong therapeutic relationship while applying well-researched interventions for the problems being treated. I begin by spending time getting to know you and the systems you exist in, clarifying your goals, and collaboratively developing a road map for your treatment. I value building a strong therapeutic relationship with you and may draw on this to challenge you or support you in moving closer to your goals when appropriate. With this foundation, I bring my knowledge and experience in evidence-based practices to help you overcome your difficulties and reach the goals we have agreed on. I enjoy using humor, creativity, and authenticity in my practice and provide a balance of warmth and firmness that my clients value.

Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy spending time with family (pets included) and friends, being active outdoors, gardening, cooking, and observing and partaking in all forms of artistic expression.
